I have passed my class 10th in 1984, before 80's the school was excellent as far as education, management and discipline are concern. Since 1976 to 1984 I was a student of this school. Few teachers were really gentle, polite and helpful. Memories are always special, but will not return back forever. I spent my childhood in this school. Last 25 years I am residing in Delhi but still I have many contacts of my childhood classmates.I still miss those golden days, time and moments i.e. prayer, annual function, class room gossips in rainy days, cricket matches at recess, kho kho game beneath the tree, mel burries(shahtoot), friday scout uniform etc. etc. Hope my old classmates will abide by it, A wave hand to that precious days : SUDEEP BANERJEE

Dear Rakesh Sharma, you have asked me about being concerned about our rights. Well that is what we were taught by our teachers in Annie Besant School, Allahabad. Do you remember Durga Prasad Sharma who was 2 or 3 years senior to us in school? After leaving our school, he was one day returning home alone from K.P.College. He saw some boys stopping rikshaws at Khunnu Jalpan Gruh in front of Government Intermediate College and molesting girls returning from schools and colleges. He immediately stopped his bicycle and despite being alone bravely objected to their obnoxious behavior. He was alone and they were four goons and they beat him up very badly. Durga went home and collected all his panda relatives and friends, from I think Keat Gunj and returned with laathis and bhaalas in Tongas and Ekkas to Khunnu Jalpan Gruh where those 4 boys were still present and happily engaged in their dirty work. Then those 4 goondas got a dose of their own medicine at the hands of Durga and his 20/25 relatives and friends and they almost died. But fortunately for Durga no one actually died which they very much deserved. After this incident a curfew was clamped in Allahabad for a week or 10 days because some goondas were muslim and there was a chance of a communal flare up. All the newspapers without verifying the facts branded Durga a very big goonda of Allahabad and started writing against him. Durga was vilified for a long time by the news papers.
After 4 or 5 months after the above mentioned incident Durga came to our school to drop his two sisters when Miss Vidyavati Verma, our school principal saw him. She called him near her office which was next to our drawing class and started scolding him for becoming a big goonda and causing all the trouble in Allahabad. She also said has he forgotten that he was a student of Annie Besant School? Durga did not say a single word and faced the onslaught for 15/20 minutes with his head bowed down and then narrated the whole true story to Verma Guruji which was never reported by any newspaper. Verma Guruji was so shocked that she started crying and hugged Durga close and said sorry for getting angry with him without knowing the truth. I know the whole story because I was present there with them.
When I joined GIC in 1962 in 9th class in technical section, there was a boy Gopal Prasad Sharma in Arts and we used to attend Hindi and English classes together. He was a very fair and handsome boy with extremely powerful physique. One day during Diwali he was going home late at night. He saw one young girl 17/18 years old and her mother going in a rikshaw and 4/5 goondas stopping them and trying to kidnap the girl. Gopal without giving a thought to his own safety intervened and despite being alone fought the bad characters and rescued the girl. That day was Bhaiyya Duj day. This incident was reported in the newspapers next day and when the reporters asked him questions Gopal answered that this girl could have been his own sister and Gopal was hailed as a hero. After this the girl used to tie a Rakhi on Gopal's rist every Rakshabandhan day. When I met Gopal in class after this incident I narrated the Story of Durga to him and what a surprise I had, he told me that Durga was his older brother. What a coincidence! The history had repeated itself. Maybe both the brothers had received the same teachings and guidance from their mother and family. When I asked Gopal how come Durga and the two sisters were in Annie Besant School and he was not? He told me that he was also admitted to our school but he used to cry and refused to go to school when the school bus came. So in disgust his father admitted him to a boys only municipal school near the house. And he told me that he always regretted this decision later because when Durga and his sisters came home and told the wonderful stories about their school and about all the Gurujis he never had anything to say about his dirty municipal school and the foul mouthed boys and teachers. I do not know where Durga and Gopal are today but I salute them for their bravery and exemplary behavior.
Dear Rakesh Sharma please do not call me Kunte Sahib or anything else and I am no boss of South Malaka I am the same Vinay of Annie Besant school.
